The legend of EMDRe
2007
Documentary of Michel Meignant and Mario Viana

the psychologist Roger SOLOMON asks Michel MEIGNANT to think of a traumatic memory in order to conduct an EMDR session on him

Post-traumatic effects are at the origin of human misfortunes. Some traumas can leave psychic and physical effects difficult to cure. These post-traumatic sufferings, when not properly treated, are at the origin of new violences, of new sufferings. A traumatic cycle settles, mainly responsible for the world's misfortunes.

In 1987, Francine Shapiro invented the EMDR (Eyes Movement Desensitization and Reprocesssing), a revolutionary method of psychotherapy which cures traumas by the use of rhythmic ocular movements - from left to right and from right to left.

The film shows an EMDR session practiced on Dr. Michel Meignant, the film director, himself psychotherapist, by the psychologist Roger Solomon. A real and moving therapeutic demonstration of the treatment of family traumas and the after-effects of the SHOAH !

During the film, various French, American, Canadian and Israeli practitioners, among whom Francine Shapiro, provide explanations on the discovery and the operation of the EMDR method.
